Martin says this about the most common illnesses in the area: "They often get lung infections, heart problems, and ear and eye infections, but nothing too significant. We often give them medicines or other things to keep their illnesses from getting worse, but many of them don't even have illnesses. They might just want to know that everything is fine."

The bishop ordained the eleven Jesuit deacons to priests at St. Joseph Jesuit Scholasticate in Thu Duc, Vietnam, on the feast of St. Francis Xavier.
Recently a high-level human rights team of the UN which included the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, have made public a letter they had written to the Government of India expressing their concern over the “alleged arbitrary detention of human rights defender Stan Swamy”.
Father Carlos Gonzalez Valles, who spent five decades in India and left his imprint on the country authoring 78 books in the Gujarati language, passed away in Madrid, Spain Oct. 9. He was 95 years of age.
