Cambodia: Bishop of Phnom Penh Meets Senior Buddhist Monk to Discuss Peace
The Apostolic Vicar of Phnom Penh, Bishop Olivier Schmitthaeusler, M.E.P., paid a courtesy visit to Samdech Preah Maha Ariyavong Dr. Yon Seng Yeath, a senior Buddhist monk, at Wat Unnalom on December 15.
During this meaningful encounter, the two religious leaders engaged in a cordial and respectful dialogue, focusing primarily on the shared commitment of their faith traditions to the promotion of peace. They reflected on ways to encourage the faithful of both Buddhism and Catholicism to deepen a spirit of unity, rooted in mutual respect and a love for peace.
Bishop Olivier and Samdech Preah Maha Ariyavong Pandit expressed a common desire to see the early realization of genuine peace, emphasizing the need for an end to armed conflict so that people may live once again in safety, harmony, and dignity.
This meeting stands as a powerful testimony that, despite differences in religious beliefs, faith leaders can work together for the greater good of peace, harmony, and the well-being of humanity.
