India: Veduka Marks 30 Years of Jesus Youth in Telugu Region

The Jesus Youth movement celebrated 30 years of its presence in the Telugu Region with Veduka, held on September 13–14 at St. Francis Girls High School, Secunderabad, in the Archdiocese of Hyderabad.
The inaugural Mass was presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Poola Anthony, Archbishop of Hyderabad, together with Archbishop Emeritus Mallavarapu Prakash of Visakhapatnam, Bishop Rayarala Vijay Kumar, PIME, of Srikakulam, and several priests.
Jesus Youth is an international Catholic lay movement that encourages young people to live a meaningful Christian life. Its spirituality is rooted in six pillars: Personal Prayer, Word of God, Sacraments, Fellowship, Evangelization, and Option for the Poor.
The movement began in 1995 when two full-timers from Kerala, with the permission of then-Bishop Marrampudi Joji of Vijayawada, introduced Jesus Youth in United Andhra Pradesh. In 2016, the Holy See granted the movement Pontifical approval, officially recognizing it as an international Catholic lay movement.
From 2020 to 2025, the focus remained on personal formation and mission, equipping young people to become active missionaries. Over the past three decades, the movement has helped thousands encounter Christ, with many pursuing vocations to priesthood and religious life.
During the celebration, Cardinal Poola Anthony released the poster for the upcoming Jago Conference 2025, a youth gathering scheduled for December 28–31.
The event drew around 300 participants from 13 Catholic dioceses across the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
