The social communication commission of the Archdiocese of Jakarta (KAJ) will hold the Ardas Film Festival (FFA-KAJ 2022) to promote the Human Dignity Awards and to maximize the use of digital services.

The press release says that making this film festival is in line with the Basic Direction of the KAJ for the next five years, which looks at the church's social teachings by focusing on respect for human dignity.

"FFA-KAJ 2022 intends to be a venue for inter-parish, community, and category communication activists in the KAJ region to promote the process of mutual awareness and to delve deeper into respect for human dignity," the social communication commission said in a statement.

The event organizer explained that holding a film festival is crucial to the church's strategy and character for engaging with its members through various channels, directions, and materials over the long term.

"There are various ways to communicate and many media that can be employed as a means of communication," the statement reads, adding, "Successful communication is not only determined by whether the message sent is received; it also succeeds in persuading the message's recipient to carry out the instructions."

"One of the most effective means of communication is through film. The audience accepts the message and sometimes moves the audience to do something," the statement said.

The competition for this film festival with prizes is open to members of the Jakarta Archdiocese of the Catholic Church. This community consists of parish social commissions or catechetical communities.

The film festival's awards will be announced on November 26, including the best script, director, artistic director, film, viewers, and most likes.

The Archdiocese of Jakarta is the oldest traditional province of the Roman Catholic Church in Indonesia. It began in 1807 as an Apostolic Prefecture. The Apostolic Prefecture was renamed the Apostolic Vicariate of Batavia on April 3, 1842.

The Apostolic Vicariate became the Archdiocese of Jakarta on January 3, 1961, with the Dioceses of Bandung and Bogor as its two suffragan dioceses.

KAJ encompasses the entirety of the Special Capital Region (DKI), which includes Jakarta, Tangerang Regency, and Bekasi Regency. It is responsible for 60 parishes and various health, education, and social work services. - Kasmir Nema

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
