Members of the Pakistan Catholic Bishops’ Conference visited the General House of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Rome on May 11, during their Ad Limina visit to the Vatican.

The Oblate community warmly welcomed Cardinal Joseph Coutts; Bishop Samson Shukardin; Archbishop Benny Mario Travas; Archbishop Joseph Arshad; Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw; Bishop Indrias Rehmat; and Archbishop Khalid Rehmat.

Also present were Fr. Eugene Benedict OMI, councilor for the Asia-Oceania Region; Fr. Antoni Bochm OMI, vicar general of the Oblate congregation; Fr. James Brobst OMI, councilor for the US-Canada Region; and Fr. Gulshan Barkat OMI, who is pursuing doctoral studies in Church history at the Pontifical Gregorian University.

The Oblates expressed joy over the visit and reaffirmed their longstanding mission in Pakistan.

The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate have served in Pakistan since 1971 and continue their pastoral ministry in dioceses across the country, working closely with local communities and accompanying the faithful in their daily lives.

During a fraternal meal, Bishop Samson Shukardin OFM, president of the bishops’ conference, thanked the Oblates for their dedicated service in Pakistan, especially their commitment to serving poor and marginalized communities.

RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
