God hears and understands the prayers of his children!

The power of Intercessory prayer.

October 29, 2025 Wednesday of the Thirtieth Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Romans 8:26-30; Luke 13:22-30

The first reading of the day highlights the power of the Holy Spirit. Paul assures that He helps the Roman Christians in their weakness. He is the one who teaches believers how to pray. He intercedes to God on their behalf according to the will of God. His intercession is persuasive. He groans for the believers. Paul is so hopeful that he states that “all things work together for good for those who love God” (Romans 8:28). It is hope that takes Christians forward in their commitment to Christ. But then they have to learn to love God above all else and everything else. God had planned everything in advance to conform them to the image of His only begotten Son Jesus. God is at work at all times in His sovereign love for humanity. He will not only justify but also glorify His children in due time.

Jesus was an itinerant missionary. He continued to move from one village to another, from one town to another. The question of salvation or justification was always on the minds of the Jews. Who will be saved? All who enter through the ‘narrow door,’ said Jesus. What does it mean? The narrow door is a challenging one. It is not an easy path. It demands lots of commitment, spirit of sacrifice and altruism. One has to make honest and sincere effort to enter following the teachings of Jesus. It points out to an active discipleship. It is not a ministry of being and presence. It is a ministry of doing. The sacrament of baptism does not automatically qualify someone to heaven. One has to try and make efforts to obtain the grace of God. Genuine relationship with Jesus is important. Knowing him, eating and drinking with him do not guarantee salvation. The imagery of “wailing and gnashing of teeth” foretells the reality of rejection and disappointment of those who will be rejected by God. The chosen ones will be rejected while the Gentiles will enter and occupy the front seats. The invitation to enter and occupy the prime places is given to all.

Call to Action: We cannot take anything for granted. Nothing is automatic in this world, not even the grace of God that is granted to us. Let’s remain watchful!

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
