Listen to your heart and do good things continuously.

August 1, Monday, the 18th week in Ordinary Time
Daily readings: Jeremiah 28: 1-17, Gospel, Mathew 14: 13-21

"Listening with the ear of the heart" hopefully inspires us to become respectful and caring beings.

Today's Gospel reminds us of the message of Pope Francis on commemorating the 56th World Communications Day with the theme "Listen." Jesus left by boat, wanting to isolate himself, but when he arrived on land, he saw many people waiting for him. Jesus then did not leave them casually. Why? Jesus wanted to cure the ill as he was moved with compassion for them.

We are typically engrossed in our lives and indifferent to our circumstances. We are invited to reflect on Jesus' presence in the crowd. This episode began with compassion. After healing the sick, Jesus also provided food.

Through the theme of World Communications Day, Pope Francis invites us to be willing and brave to "listen with the ear of the heart." Listen! Listening is a fundamental attitude that can inspire us to do good in our lives by opening the eyes of our hearts.

Sometimes, we are constantly preoccupied with various things in life. We are required to spend time listening to ourselves, our parents, and our neighbors, as well as being inspired to do good deeds.

In addition, we are encouraged to make space in our lives for listening to our inner voice and conversing with ourselves about our desires, aspirations, and hopes. A place to listen to people around us so we may represent God's loving presence to others.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
