Recognize God's voice with our attitude and speech

May 9, Monday, of the Fourth Week of Easter
Daily Readings: Acts 11:1-18; Gospel John 10:1-10

With our attitudes and words, we can assist one another in recognizing God's voice. In this sense, we, like Peter, become God's instrument, resonating with His voice in various ways. We can become modern-day Peters by doing this, introducing many people to God.

The story of Peter baptizing Cornelius, a Gentile or non-Jew believer, opened the apostles' insight that God loves everyone because everything belongs to Him. God did not send us to this world to live only for ourselves, our inner circle, or our people. He sends us to live among his people so that we can assist one another in getting to know him.

Jesus declares Himself to be the Shepherd, and we are all His sheep. Knowing us by our names shows that God does not discriminate between everyone.

We are also called to create circumstances where we can communicate and get to know one another as a family of God. Getting to know the other person personally will help us gain respect for them and reduce our negative thoughts about them.

The sheep that misrecognize the voice of the shepherd will go astray. In two ways, we are asked to increase our sensitivity to listening to the voice of our shepherd.

First, through faithfully reading and meditating on the Word of God. The Bible has God's voice in it, and it tells us how to live, corrects us, and what God wants us to do.

Second, God speaks his voice through our inner voice. The inner voice always echoes good things. Attention to the inner voice will lead that person to a clear and authentic voice.

We can help each other recognize God's voice with our attitude and speech. It could happen that our neighbors do not have time to know God's voice firsthand, but when they see our lives, they will be led to God. In this way, we become God’s instrument, as did Peter, to resound in many ways with His voice to others.

On the other hand, God invites our neighbors to come to Him through us. Let us help each other feel his love by being his excellent flock. We can become present-day Peters, who introduce many Cornelius to God in this way.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
