The Catholic Church observes ‘World Mission Day’ on Sunday, 19 October. There is added significance this year because it is the Jubilee Year, and the focus is on becoming ‘pilgrims of hope’.
A small rural village in France — the priest Vincent de Paul preached a sermon in front of poor peasants in the countryside who did not have access to the church since many of its priests were in the cities.
Today there are over 300,000 Brazilians living in Japan, mainly as workers in factories. They came from various corners of the enormous country. In their midst, I find meaning in my ministry today as a Divine Word missionary.
