The All India Catholic University Federation (AICUF) opened its centenary celebrations May 24-27 at St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli, in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the birthplace of AICUF.
Father Roy Lazar from the Vellore diocese in Tamil Nadu, south India, is elected as the President of the Conference of Diocesan Priests of India (CDPI).
Father Ronald Richard, stated, “The power of youth can bring drastic changes to the world as one team and they believed that we could do everything with the blessings of God after meeting at the Velankanni Shrine."
“We had a chance to share our cultures, faith and experiences with youth from Brazil, Lithuania, Bangladesh and India, and it enriches my mission in my priesthood,” Father Richard said to RVA.
"The Church is guided by the Holy Spirit, and we must continuously listen to the Spirit of the Lord in our decision-making..." said Archbishop Antonysamy.
Bishop Savarimuthu Arockiaraj of Tiruchirappalli Diocese, said, "We need to be meek and merciful to the suffering people of Manipur and it is our responsibility."
“It is unstoppable and the ruling government as well as the central government kept quiet and didn’t take any steps for peace and harmony in the state,” said Bishop Keerthinathan of the Diocese of Chengelpet.
"Every citizen of India has the right to a decent life and livelihood in the place where they are born. When the state fails to provide work for its citizens, people migrate against their will. All forced migrations are distressing and result in bonded labor or a web of many other factors," said Archbishop George Anthonysamy of Madras–Mylapur.
Dr. Savarimuthu Ignacimuthu, director of the Xavier Research Foundation of St. Xavier's College in Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli district, Tamil Nadu was awarded the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award for his outstanding contributions to scientific research.
Anbu Sengo Arasi, a Christian woman from Tamil Nadu, south India, was awarded the Vettri Thirumagal (successful woman) Awards-2022 by Radolabs Private Limited on March 24, 2022.
