Delhi Catholic Parish Hosts ‘Karoloke Bells’ Inter-Denominational Carol Singing Competition

Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Dwarka, hosts the fourth ‘Karoloke Bells’ carol competition with Seychelles High Commissioner as chief guest on December 7, 2025.

The Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Dwarka, South-West Delhi, hosted the fourth edition of “Karoloke Bells,” an inter-denominational carol singing competition, on December 7, 2025. The chief guest at the event was Mrs. Lalatiana Accouche, Seychelles High Commissioner to India.

Eight teams from different parts of the state and various congregations participated. The event commenced at 12 noon and was marked by vibrant performances, festive cheer, and a spirit of unity among churches and institutions.

The competition featured two categories, Hindi and English, with all participating teams eligible for the Rolling Trophy. The eight teams included Myanmar Catholic Youth Choir, John Paul II Mission, Baptist Church Malka Ganj, The Crucible, St. John the Evangelist Church Palam, Fr. Agnel School Balbhawan Greater Noida, Vinaya Gurukul, and Centenary Methodist Church.

Six of these teams participated in both Hindi and English categories, making the contest for the Rolling Trophy especially exciting.

The competition was judged by an esteemed panel comprising Mr. Pem Kashyeaolo, Dr. Sheba Shadrach, and Mr. Minlun Vaiphei, who evaluated performances based on melody, harmony, presentation, and overall impact.

Alongside the competition, the venue reflected the festive spirit of Christmas. Several food stalls offering refreshments and Christmas goodies were set up for participants and the audience. A photo booth provided an opportunity to capture memorable moments. The youth of the parish beautifully decorated the venue and prepared the Christmas crib, adding warmth and charm to the celebration.

Results

In the English category, Fr. Agnel School, Balbhawan, Greater Noida secured first place, followed by Myanmar Catholic Youth Choir in second and The Crucible in third. In the Hindi category, first place was again awarded to Fr. Agnel School, Balbhawan, Greater Noida, with Myanmar Catholic Youth Choir taking second and Centenary Methodist Church third. The Rolling Trophy was also claimed by Fr. Agnel School, Balbhawan, Greater Noida.

The 4th edition of Karoloke Bells was a resounding success, fostering fellowship, celebrating the joy of Christmas through music, and providing a platform for choirs to glorify God through their voices. The event concluded on a joyful note, leaving both the audience and participants with cherished memories and a renewed Christmas spirit.

This year’s event witnessed commendable participation, with eight teams performing across the Hindi and English categories. Each choir showcased admirable discipline, musicality, and dedication, reflecting the spirit of the season with grace and sincerity. I extend my gratitude to our esteemed panel of judges for their valuable time, expertise, and fair evaluation. Their presence greatly enhanced the credibility and standard of the competition."

Ms. Lizabeth Minj shared: "I am happy that we could participate in the competition. It is wonderful that even non-Catholics are welcome to compete."

Financial advisor Mr. Naveen Dhobal said: "I attend this competition every year with my family and friends. It reminds me of my school days when carols were held during the Christmas season. I am glad I could attend Karoloke Bells, even though I am not a Christian."
