St. Fransiscus Assisi parish, Tentang, in collaboration with the local government of the Ndoso sub-district, West Manggarai Regency, Indonesia, launched the Golong Geleng Nature Tourism Park on January 28.

Pong Narang Village, Ndoso sub-District, donated three hectares for the Golo Geleng Nature Park.

The establishment of the Golo Geleng Nature Park is a component of the Ruteng Diocese's Year of Holistic Tourism 2022 on Flores Island, Eastern Indonesia.

Father Andre Bisa, the parish priest, looks forward to developing Golo Geleng's natural tourism park to promote appreciation and protection for nature.

"The tourism park's development would promote awareness of, and care for, environmental demands, indigenous tree vegetation, and indigenous knowledge tales present in the Golo Geleng natural tourism park," he explained.

The priest said, "The Golo Geleng area's development as a nature tourism park has facilitated the community's creative economy in tourism destinations."

The priest hopes that in the future, this natural tourism park will be built in the "Sapta Pesona" style: excellent, clean, beautiful, friendly, orderly, safe, and memorable.

"Tourism development must emphasize involving the community in maintaining the integrity and preservation of the nature tourism park area's flora and fauna," he concluded.

Golo Geleng Nature Park was established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the parish of St. Francis of Assisi, Tentang, and the Pong Narang Village government.

Furthermore, both institutions will be in charge of managing and running this natural tourism attraction.

Anselmus Darman, the head of Ndoso Sub-district, was present at the conservation and launch event. He invited people to support and plant trees to conserve water around the Golo Geleng Nature Tourism Area.

He hopes the community and youth will support developing this nature tourism park as the leading tourist destination for the Ndoso sub-district.
