To Err is Human and to Forgive is Divine!

July 12, 2025 Saturday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Genesis 49:29-32; 50:15-26A; Matthew 10:24-33
Sensing that his time of departure is near, Jacob instructs his sons to bury him in the family tomb at Machpelah, near Mamre in the land of Canaan—where Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah, and his wife Leah are buried. This request reflects a deep sense of family heritage and belonging.
However, Joseph’s brothers remain anxious. They fear that Joseph, now that their father is gone, might take revenge for their past betrayal. Once again, they fabricate a story—revealing that even now, honesty and transparency elude them. But Joseph, moved with compassion, reassures them. He promises to care for them and their little ones, affirming that God had orchestrated everything for good. Joseph sees himself as an instrument of divine providence—raised up to save many during the years of famine.
In the Gospel, Jesus continues instructing His disciples on their first missionary journey. Their mission requires deep self-awareness—knowing their strengths and limitations—and the courage to face false accusations without resentment. They are reminded that they are more precious than sparrows. Even the hairs on their heads are counted—such is God’s intimate care.
Jesus calls His followers to acknowledge Him boldly. If they stand for Him before others, He will acknowledge them before the Father. But those who deny Him will face denial in return. A missionary’s highest calling is to proclaim the Gospel with courage, trust, and unwavering faith—without fear or hesitation.
Call to Action: We are precious in the eyes of God. How do we treat the members of our families and our Church?
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
