Archbishop Joseph Arshad of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Islamabad–Rawalpindi has called on the people of Pakistan’s twin cities to unite through love, forgiveness, mutual respect, and service, in order to build a peaceful and hatred-free society.
Archbishop Joseph Arshad of Islamabad-Rawalpindi, Pakistan, has called for the inclusion of minority candidates in local government elections through direct elections, allowing religious communities to elect their own representatives instead of having them selected by political parties at the local government level.
Bishop Joseph Arshad of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Diocese in Pakistan held an Iftar party for Muslim brethren, along with other religious leaders, on March 25 in Rawalpindi.
Archbishop Arshad said in a press conference, "21 churches were attacked, more than 250 Christians' homes were burned, the cross was desecrated and churches and homes of Christians were looted.”
Archbishop Joseph Arshad said, "People today fill their hearts and souls with feelings of love, peace, and prayer to celebrate the 76th Independence Day of Pakistan."
