Thousands of consecrated men and women gather in Rome for Jubilee

Over 16,000 consecrated men and women from nearly 100 countries, including large delegations from Asia, will gather in Rome for the Jubilee of Consecrated Life, taking place from October 8 to 12, 2025.
Organized by the Dicastery for Evangelization and the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, the Jubilee brings together religious men and women, monastics, contemplatives, secular institutes, members of the Ordo virginum, hermits, and new forms of consecrated life for a week of prayer, reflection, and dialogue.
Among the many countries represented, the Philippines, India, South Korea, and Indonesia are sending significant delegations, reflecting the vibrant and growing presence of consecrated life across Asia, where religious communities play a key role in evangelization, education, healthcare, and social services.
Opening Pilgrimage and Vigil
The celebrations begin on Wednesday, October 8, with personal pilgrimages to the Holy Doors in Rome, followed by a prayer vigil in St. Peter’s Basilica, presided over by Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, SDB.
On Thursday, October 9, Pope Leo XIV will preside over a Mass in St. Peter’s Square, gathering thousands of consecrated persons in a shared moment of prayer and mission.
Dialogue with the City
That evening, participants and local communities will join in “Dialogues with the City,” public events in three Roman squares focusing on care for the marginalized, environmental protection, and universal fraternity, themes that resonate strongly with many Asian communities engaged in social and pastoral work.
Reflection, Synodal Encounters, and Multilingual Prayer
From October 9 to 11, 4,000 registered participants will take part in specialized reflection sessions organized according to their forms of consecrated life. These will be held in various venues, including Paul VI Hall, Urbaniana University, and the Jesuit Curia.
The program includes days focused on Hope (October 10) and Peace (October 11), featuring key interventions by Fr. Giacomo Costa, SJ, and Sr. Teresa Maya, CCVI, as well as workshops on conflict mediation led by Fr. David McCallum, SJ.
Multilingual evening prayers, including an English-language service at San Silvestro Church, will allow many Asian participants to fully engage in the spiritual atmosphere of the Jubilee.
The Jubilee concludes on Sunday, October 12, with a Jubilee Mass of Marian Spirituality in St. Peter’s Square, bringing together all pilgrims in a powerful moment of communion and thanksgiving.
Asia’s Witness to Hope
Throughout the Jubilee, Asian religious communities will actively contribute to liturgies, workshops, and testimonies, bearing witness to their identity as “missionaries of hope” in contexts marked by cultural diversity, creativity, and missionary dynamism.
The Jubilee of Consecrated Life is part of the wider Jubilee Year 2025 celebrations, renewing the joy, witness, and missionary zeal of consecrated persons around the world.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
