Father Athanasius Mung took over from Father Mark Aimeng as the head of Radio Veritas Asia (RVA) Zo service on February 10.

RVA’s Zo Service, known as Zomi-Chin Service, completed twenty-five years on August 9, 2021. Due to the pandemic, the silver jubilee celebrations were held on November 7, 2021.

Archbishop Dominic Lumon of Imphal was the main celebrant for the thanksgiving mass held at St. Joseph’s parish, Sugnu, in Kakching district in the Indian state of Manipur.

RVA’s Zo service caters to Zo-Kuki-Chin communities in Churachandpur district and Chandel district in the Imphal diocese, areas of northern Myanmar and the diaspora community.

Father Mark Aimeng considered himself a digital migrant. The senior priest was glad to hand over the reins to young Father Athansius Mung, a “digital native.”

Father Mark Aimeng said that the move was the most needed at this point of time as the broadcast has become increasingly digitalized.

The senior priest navigated the digital platform, as a digital immigrant. Nevertheless, Father Mark will continue to mentor the four-member staff of RVA Zo service.

Father Mark will continue to be the director of the archdiocesan Office of Commission for Social Communications, apply for media-related projects and contribute to the e-Catholic Manipur magazine.

The handing over ceremony was held in the presence of Archbishop Lumon, the chairman of the governing board and Father George Plathottam, the Executive Secretary of Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences- Office of Social Communication (FABC-OSC) on February 9.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
