God’s presence dwells in His angels!

October 02, 2025 Thursday of the Twenty-sixth Week in Ordinary Time
Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels
Daily Readings: Nehemiah 8.1-4a, 5-6, 7b-12; Matthew 18:1-5, 10

God’s loving care and concern for the people of Israel is revealed in His arrangement of sending an angel to go before them, to guard them on their way, and to bring them to the Promised Land. The people are called to be attentive to Him and listen to His voice. Since the angel represents God, any rebellion against him would be a revolt against God Himself, who sent him. The angel wields divine authority as a spiritual being. Obedience is therefore of paramount importance, for it brings abundant blessings, including victories over every kind of foe. Scripture recalls the many nations that resisted and fought against God’s people, yet He blotted them all out.

It is a human tendency to compare ourselves with others and to think we are superior, whether due to age and experience, higher educational qualifications, greater skills, or special talents. But those who wish to inherit the kingdom of heaven must learn to welcome a child, embracing both their goodness and their limitations. We can never afford to despise anyone, whether a little child or a grown adult. Who are we to condemn? Why do we assume God’s place in judging others? Every person has a guardian angel who stands before God on their behalf.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches: “From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession.” Saints such as Padre Pio, Gemma Galgani, Frances of Rome, and Faustina Kowalska encountered and spoke with their guardian angels. Saints Don Bosco and Catherine of Siena also experienced angelic assistance in their lives.

Call to Action: Let us learn to love and respect people for who they are, in spite of their limitations and shortcomings. After all, who among us is perfect?

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
