To Love is to be in Mission

June 14, Wednesday of the 10th week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings:2 Corinthians 3: 4-11; Gospel: Matthew.5:17-19

The Pharisees often criticized Jesus for breaking the letter of the law. Today's Gospel tells us that Jesus never broke either of the two great commandments—loving God and loving others as ourselves. He knows he comes to the world on the mission of love. Jesus teaches by word and action, by saying and doing.

In light of today's Gospel story, Jesus is no destroyer of people's devotions. He is not interested in abolishing the faith practice of anyone. All the goodness of our religion and our faith is precious to him. His grace is given to each person personally.

Sometimes we become like the Pharisees, making ourselves busy with the lives of others. Who are we to judge them? Why are we busy with judgment and forgetting to love? We spend most of our time judging others, yet many of our sisters and brothers long to be loved.

We are called to follow Jesus' example, love God, and love our neighbors as ourselves. Our world needs love; let us spread God’s love through our simple gesture of caring for others around us, especially those who are in need.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
