The national canon law conference was held in Bangalore from February 6 to 8, 2024, at Paalanaa Bhavan, organized by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) Commission for Canon Law.
The Sunday and Weekday Editions of the Roman Missal (Missale Romanum, editio typica tertia) in English for India was released by Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão, the President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), and the Archbishop of Goa and Daman on January 30, 2024.
The Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) released two books: “Complementary Norms to the Code of Canon Law” and “User Guide for Book VI of the Code of Canon Law."
Archbishop Victor Henry Thakur advocated for inclusivity and equitable opportunity to improve communities with migrants' different skills, cultures, and viewpoints.
“As we reflect on the successful national laity conference, we anticipate continued growth and the role of the laity within the Church in India,” said Fr. Anthony Fernandes.
"A Synodal Church in Mission," capturing the essence of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops' first session, to be held from October 4–29, in Bangalore, in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.
"Let us draw inspiration from Roman culture and our faith, allowing it to empower and motivate our personal and spiritual growth,” said Cardinal Filipe Neri.
Bishop Lobo said, “The Jubilee Yātra, Pilgrimage of Hope, is not just a gathering; it is a transformative experience that aims to bring priests, religious, and lay faithful together on a shared path of reflection, renewal, and rekindling hope."
The uniqueness of this project is that it will pave the way for the National Database of Latin Catholic Faithful with a Unique ID, which will lead to a significant transformation for the church.
“The purpose of the Jubilee 2025 is threefold: to celebrate Jesus, to celebrate the Church, and to celebrate our faith,” the President of the CCBI said.
The conference suggested that the priority of the church should be to welcome, protect, promote, and integrate the migrants into the mainstream of society, making them feel that they are one of them and they can live in dignity and freedom.
