Pope Francis appointed the first lay secretary, Gleison De Paula Souza, for the Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life on November 17. 38-year-old Souza is a high school teacher of religion and a father of two daughters.
The 12th Continental Conference of Christian Family Movements of Asia was held from 11 to 14 November in Baan Phu Waan, the Bangkok diocesan Pastoral Center. More than 100 delegates from various Asian countries participated in the conference.
Addressing the Pontifical Theological Institute “John Paul II” for Marriage and the Family Sciences, Pope Francis highlights the need for the Church as well as the State “to listen and support families” in these turbulent times, reminding that the family is the very fabric of society, while warning against ideological approaches.
