India: Two New Books on Christian Living and Canon Law Released

Two new books, Christian Living and Reforming the Law, Renewing the Church, were released during the golden jubilee celebrations of St. Peter’s Pontifical Institute, Bengaluru. His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao unveiled the volumes and presented the first copies to 14 Archbishops and Bishops attending the event.
Christian Living (250 pages, St. Paul’s, Mumbai) explores the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church and their relevance for today’s faithful. It reflects on themes such as magisterial guidance, informed faith, synodal discernment, and the laity’s role in Christ’s mission.
Reforming the Law, Renewing the Church (350 pages, ATC Publishers, Bengaluru) focuses on recent canonical reforms in the Catholic Church. It examines Pope Francis’ neo-humanism, synodality, lay empowerment, curial reforms, and the pastoral application of justice in the Church’s new penal law.

The books are authored by Rev. Dr. Merlin Rengith Ambrose, Executive Secretary of the Commission for Canon Law in the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) and resident Professor of Canon Law at St. Peter’s Pontifical Institute. He has previously written four books on canon law and published numerous research articles in Indian and international journals.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
