Mary Mother of God

Peace, in this vision, is not something imposed from above or enforced through strength. It begins in vulnerability. God enters history not as a ruler but as a child, dependent on a mother’s care.

As Mary, the Mother of God, walks with us into the New Year, may she accompany us with her protection and intercession, helping us to safeguard life always and everywhere.

On January 1, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, a feast that draws our attention to Mary’s unique place in the mystery of salvation. In the Church’s liturgical rhythm, the feasts of Jesus are often followed by a feast of Mary, sometimes the very next day, or within a week, highlighting her inseparable role in the life and mission of her Son.

As the world celebrates a new year, Mary shows us how to embrace God’s grace, reflect in our hearts, and live as children of the new creation.

Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception

What is the most important event in Mary's life that prepared her for a role as Theo-tokos? It’s her Immaculate Conception, yes, and that is being conceived without original sin. When Mary’s father, Saint Joaquim, and her mother, Saint Anne, produced her body by procreation, God directly created and infused Mary’s soul into the body at the precise moment of her conception in St. Anne’s womb, free from original sin.
